Manipulation

About:

Manipulation has taken on many forms in Quidam.

In the first North American tour, 3 performers used wavy sheets of metal and bowler hats to juggle red balls. They wore suits similar to the father character but with a round oval reflective material in the center. This act was originally in Cirque du Soleil’s Mystere in Las Vegas. This act was not a backup act but a part of the entire line-up.

After North America, the trio moved on and Edward Skwirsky joined.  From here on the act became a back-up and was, with some exceptions, performed by the father character.  Instead of using the metal sheet, he juggled larger soccer sized balls that he manipulated over his body and bounced from his head as well as throwing around.

During the second North American tour, Skwirsky continued his back-up act and Elena Lev joined to perform a hoop manipulation that replaced hand balancing.  She spun hulu hoops around her body while performing contortion.

After the Australia-Pacific tour, Skwirsky left and Steven Ragatz, one of the original three, rejoined for a solo act.  This time he added the use of a suitcase, a cane, and his bowler hat. Patrick McGuire, also one of the original three, performs a similar routine.
